in this chapter, let’s take a look at how modern planning happens in planeus, step by step one of the most innovative things about planeus is how it handles planning on two levels this helps you see both the overall flow of your projects and the precise steps needed to get products out the door on time level 2 production planning (work steps) this is the production part — where the actual making happens this level goes into detail through something called a technology , which is like a recipe for how to produce your product a technology tells planeus all the work steps needed to make your product which machines, people, or tools do each step how long each step takes and work step always tie to resource when you plan production, planeus creates a production order for each product inside each production order are the specific work steps that need to happen level 1 process planning (processes) think of processes as the things that happen before or after actual production — like designing a product buying materials shipping finished goods every product you make (called an article ) can have its own process template processes are not tied to resources nor they are required to be reported in quantities they’re more like milestones in your project where can i see them in gantt charts? processes appear in the timeline gantt view so you can see how tasks like design or shipping fit into your overall plan work steps appear in the manufacturing planning gantt view , showing when and where production steps happen how it all connects here’s how planeus ties everything together you start with a project a project has order items , which say what product you’re making how many you need when it should be finished from each order item production orders and work steps are created from the technology processes are created using process templates planeus connects your planning from high level projects all the way down to detailed production steps, helping you keep everything organized working in planeus browser based planeus runs completely in your web browser for the best experience, use the latest versions of google chrome or microsoft edge navigating planeus the main menu is on the left side of the screen click the hamburger icon (three stacked lines) to open or close the menu closing the main menu gives you more space to work , especially on smaller screens! need to get into administration or configuration settings? just click the user icon at the top right corner of the screen how to edit things whenever you see the three dots icon (⋮) , click it for options to edit, update details, or add new information working with lists planeus uses lists to help you manage your data, like order items articles production orders click on any row in a list, and a detail panel will slide open on the right here, you can see more details make changes and edits from a detail panel, you can even jump straight into the gantt chart to see where that item fits in your plan! saving filters in lists saving filters in lists want to see only the info you care about? filter and sort your lists however you like save your filters — planeus remembers them just for your account! tip to save your current view, click the filter icon and save your setup need to sort by several columns at once? simply hold down the shift key while clicking the column headers batch editing multiple items planeus makes it easy to edit many items at the same time check the boxes next to the items you want to change planeus will show how many items you’ve selected click the select icon for batch actions example batch scheduling/unscheduling order items for example, in the order items list, click on the icon will show the actions you can batch apply to your checked order items this makes it super fast to update lots of items without doing them one by one!
