planeus offers an interactive and interconnection Gantt chart. This means you move or edit Planning Objects in planeus, everything stays connected so your schedule remains accurate and actionable.

# How to moving bars in the Gantt charts

- **Moving a Project, Production Process, or Order:**
 - All related objects underneath it (like Work Steps or Processes) **move along automatically**.

# How Projects and Orders Items interact?

Projects and Order Items are always calculated as the **sum of their parts.** So:

- If you move a Work Step **beyond the current end date** of an Order Item:
 - The entire Order Item is extended.
 - The same rule applies for Projects and Processes.
- If you move a Work Step **earlier than the current start date**:
 - The Order Item shortens.
 - This also applies to Projects and Processes.

# Editing Work Steps

- You can **manually change the length** of Processes and Work Steps.
- Work Steps can be moved **To other resources within the same Resource Group.**

:::hint{type="info"}
**You can move Work Steps to Resources in other Resource Groups**
if it is allowed in your settings:

\- Go to **Administration > Settings**
\- Enable **Move work steps across different groups**
:::

## Selecting and Moving Multiple Items

- Press **Ctrl + right-click** to select multiple Planning Objects.
- Drag them all at once to adjust your schedule.

Or:

- Right-click any Planning Object to open a **context menu** where you can:
 - Select all items to the left.
 - Select all items to the right.

# Understanding different times in a Work Step

In Manufacturing Planning, each Work Step has different time values:

## Setup and Process Time (Planned Time)

Calculated as: Quantity × Process Time + Setup Time

## Occupied Time

The total time the Resource is reserved, shown as the full length of the bar in the Gantt

## Actual Time

The real time recorded during production feedback.
You can see all these details in the **Detail Panel** of the Production Order.

Moving Work Step into Unavailable Times
=======================================

If you drag and drop a Work Step into a slot where the Resource is **unavailable** (like due to capacity restrictions or planned downtime), planeus **will** **automatically extend the occupied time** to cover the gap.

**Example Before Moving:**
The Work Step fits neatly within the resource’s available time.

**Example After Moving:**
The Work Step now spans into unavailable time, so planeus extends the bar to account for it.

This way, planeus helps you keep your schedule realistic and avoid hidden conflicts.
