The **Multi-Functional Resources** feature in planeus lets you assign one machine or person to **multiple Resource Groups**.

This is super helpful when:

- A person has several skills or certifications. 
- A machine can do different kinds of jobs. 

# How a Multi-Functional Resource works?

- In**Technology**, you pick the Resource Group you need for a specific Work Step.
- planeus then automatically schedules the work on any Resource **linked to that Resource Group**.
- In the **Resource Gantt Chart**, you can see all the Resource Groups each person or machine belongs to.
- You can easily move Work Steps between groups to adjust your plan.

# Example with Employees

Let’s say Mr. Miller is an employee who’s skilled as:

- A **Technician**
- A **Certified Electrician**

In planeus, you put Mr. Miller into **both Resource Groups**.

So that planeus will consider him for jobs in any of those areas when generating a plan.

# Example with Machines

Let’s use an easy example: **Printers** in a factory print shop. 

**Your Resource Groups:**

- Color printers
- Black & White printers

**Your machine specifications**

| Machine                   | Resource Groups Included               |
| ------------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| Printer A (color)         | Color printers, Black & white printers |
| Printer B (color)         | Color printers, Black & white printers |
| Printer C (black & white) | Black & white printers                 |
| Printer D (black & white) | Black & white printers                 |

Here’s how planeus would plan: 

- **If you need to print color documents:**
  - In Technology, you choose the Resource Group “Color printers.”
  - planeus **will only schedule **the job on Printer A or B, because those can handle color.
- **If you need to print black & white documents:**
  - You choose “Black & white printers.”
  - planeus can use **any printer** in that group — A, B, C, or D, whichever is available.

### Why It Matters

This feature gives you flexibility and smarter resource utilization. It ensures:

- Highly specialized tasks only go to the right resources.
- General tasks can use a broader pool of available resources, keeping production running smoothly.
