# Pausing Production Orders

:::hint{type="info"}
**In the previous version**, Pausing was only possible for Production Orders with status "Interrupted".
:::

The **Pausing Production Orders** feature lets you temporarily stop the progress on production orders that have already started, **without losing any progress or data**.

## What does "pausing" mean?

- When you **pause** a production order, planeus **removes it from the active planning schedule**.
- All related **Work Steps** are paused as well.
- Paused Work Steps **are not included in planning** until you resume the order.

## What data will be saved?

- Any **feedback already recorded** for the paused production order stays saved.
- When you **resume** the order later:
 - Only the **remaining quantity** is scheduled again.
 - Remaining quantity = Target quantity minus any already confirmed quantities from feedback.
- Resumed Work Steps that **already reached target yield quantity** will be automatically marked as "Completed".

:::hint{type="warning"}
If the original Technology included **fixed dates**, planeus ignores those when you resume the production order.
:::

## What’s the Difference Between Unscheduling and Pausing?

It’s easy to mix up Unscheduling and Pausing. Here’s how they’re different:

### Unscheduling an Order Item

- Unscheduling Order Item** will deletes all related data**, including:
 - Production Orders
 - Work Steps
 - Processes
 - Feedback records
- Use this if you **haven’t started work yet** and want to fully remove an Order Item from your plan.

### Pausing a Production Order

- **Keeps all data and their feedback safe and unchanged.**
- Simply puts the Production Order on hold so you can **resume it later** without losing any data.
- Perfect for handling unexpected situations, like:
 - Missing materials
 - Machine breakdowns
 - Changing priorities

## How to Pause a Production Order?

1. Open the **Detail Panel** for the Production Order.
2. Click **Pause Production Order**.

Paused Production Orders will be marked with a special symbol in the **Status** column.

## How to unpause a Production Order

- Open the **Detail Panel** for the paused Production Order.
- Click **Unpause Order**.

When scheduing a unpaused Order Item, planeus will:

- Reschedule the Production Order **forward from today **or** chosen start date**.
- Plan only the **remaining quantity** for each Work Step.

## Reduce Quantity when Unpausing

When you unpause a production order, you can reduce the order quantity.

This is useful when you do not want to continue the full original quantity, but only want to continue with a smaller amount.

### How it works

If **Quantity reduction** is switched on, planeus will shows the require field **New Target Quantity. **When **Quantity reduction** is switched off, this field is hidden.

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/RHe8jX8T_MUp-UxtO_MWh_image.png" size="66" width="537" height="199" position="flex-start" darkWidth="537" darkHeight="199" showCaption="false"}

### Allowed quantity

The new quantity must stay within these limits:

- **Minimum:** 1
- **Maximum:** Original quantity minus 1

Example:

If the original ordered quantity is **100,**
the highest possible New Target Quantity would be **99.**

If the production order quantity is **1**, you cannot reduce the quantity using this function.

### Suggested quantity

When enabling Quantity Reduction, planeus will automatically suggest the new target quantity:

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/itifLioGXnQ7wh-u1cf7U_image.png" size="64" width="459" height="68" position="flex-start" darkWidth="459" darkHeight="68" showCaption="false"}

If feedback already exists, planeus uses the latest completed operation with feedback to suggest the new quantity.

You can change the suggested quantity manually within the maximum limit.

### Parallel Work Steps

Sometimes, several [parallel Work Steps](docId:5E4pJD__vvYxLpkIc3oha) could be worked simultaneously by the same position number.

In this case, planeus will add their reported quantities together and uses this as the suggested quantity. But still, the new quantity cannot be higher than the maximum limit.

# Changing Quantities in Production Orders

You can change the **quantity** directly in the Production Order’s **Quantity field**.

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/uxby5muiXZtMBo_-TtrGm_image.png" size="74" width="734" height="395" position="flex-start" darkWidth="734" darkHeight="395" showCaption="false"}

:::hint{type="warning"}
When you change the quantity. it will

- **Reschedule** the Production Order.
- **Delete all **existing feedback.
:::

# Adding Multiple Production Orders to One Process

You can manually add **additional Production Orders** to an existing production process:

- Go to the **Detail Panel** under **Planning Objects > Processes**.
- Add new Production Orders as needed.

This makes it easy to expand processes without starting over.

The **Pause Production Orders** feature gives you the flexibility to temporarily stop work and pick it up again later — keeping your planning agile and your data safe.
Fix Production Orders When Scheduling

# Fix Production Orders When Scheduling

If you turn on **“Fix Production Orders When Scheduling”** in the settings, every production order is locked as soon as it’s scheduled.

To move an production order, you first need **unlock it manually**. For more, see [Locking / Fixing Production Order](docId:7lS4fF8Z5_1Z5-8EGi-Tl)
