# What are Resources in planeus?

In planeus, **Resources **are anything you need to complete a job — like employees, machines, or tools.

# What are Resource Groups in planeus?

Every resource belongs to one or more **Resource Groups**.

A Resource Group is a way to organize similar resources together, such as:

- A group of machines with the same capabilities
- A group of employees with the same skills

You can manage Resource Groups under [Configuration](docId\:dGjLWrhMESeuQNVBZx2RP).

## Assigning Capacity Plans to Resources

Each resource can have one or more **Capacity Plan** assigned. Capacity Plans define when a resource is available to work.

- You’ll set up Capacity Plans under [Configuration](docId\:dGjLWrhMESeuQNVBZx2RP).
- You can assign a Capacity Plan to a resource for a specific time range.
 - If the “Valid Until” field is left empty, the plan applies indefinitely.

# Recurring Capacity Plans

planeus supports **recurring capacity plan**.

Here’s how it works:

- Enable the **Recurring Capacity Plan** option.
- Assign different weeks with different schedules.

**Example:**
Between March 1, 2025, and June 30, 2025:

- Week 1 = Early shift
- Week 2 = Late shift

This pattern of Early-Late Shift will repeat throughout the time period.

# Multi-Assignable Resources

You can mark a machine as a **Multi-Assignable Resource**. This means the planning algorithm can assign multiple tasks to that machine at the same time.

Here’s how it works:

- Enable the **Allow Multi-Assign** option.
- Use the field **“Max. number of multiple work steps”** to set a limit.
- You can also leave it blank for unlimited simultaneous tasks.

When a resource is set to be multi-assignable, planeus **will not show conflict** for overlapping assignments, even if the tasks are assigned manually or automatically.

# Allow Feedback

When you enable "**Feedback” **for a Resource, it will be visible in the Workbench for reporting progress or updates.

:::hint{type="info"}
This setting will not affect conflict detection in planning.

Frozen Zone
===========

The **Frozen Zone** helps you lock in your plans from a certain point forward.

- Inside the Frozen Zone, you **can’t move or change Work Steps.**
- You also can’t drag new Work Steps into the Frozen Zone.

Each resource has its own Frozen Zone settings.

### What is the blue shaded area in the Gantt chart?

a in Gantt chart means that this time range have became a Frozen Zone.

If any part of a Work Step falls inside the Frozen Zone, it becomes fixed and can’t be changed — unless you have special user permissions.

To move or edit tasks within the Frozen Zone, you’ll need specific user rights. [More about User Rights](docId\:QXMRgSTyv7fHAvLZv8sHj).

# Duplicating Resources

You can **duplicate** an existing Resource to quickly create a similar resource.

- All data from the original Resource is copied as a starting point.
- Before saving, you just need to give your new resource a unique name.

planeus gives you powerful ways to manage all kinds of resources — making sure the right people, machines, and tools are always planned where they’re needed.
