**Workbench Terminal** is a **device-based, start/stop execution module** in planeus.
Instead of entering production data manually, your operators can simply tap “Start” and “Stop” on a touchscreen, tablet, or PC as they work.

# Why use Workbench Terminal?

**Easy for operators, fast to learn**

- Offers a simple, **touchscreen interface** that’s quick for workers to learn and operate.
- No extra steps but one-time login or scan, then go straight into execution—ideal for busy environments **where speed and accuracy matter**.

**Precise execution data and automated time tracking**

- Automatically capture **exact start and end times** for every work step, giving planners real-time visibility into progress.

**An advanced digital Shop Floor**

- Replace manual paperwork with **device-based Start/Stop tracking f**or accurate, digital production data.

# How to start using Workbench Terminal?

To use the Workbench Terminal, you’ll need two types of licenses:

- **Terminal Licenses** — one per device (PC, tablet, etc.)
- **User Licenses** — for the people who log in to the terminal

A **Terminal License** lets you register a device as a Workbench Terminal.
Once set up, users with the **User License **can log in on that device to record production data.

# How to Set Up a Workbench Terminal?

There are two steps to set up your Workbench Terminal.

## Step 1: Create a Terminal

- Go to the **Administration area** and open the menu **Workbench Terminal.**

:::hint{type="warning"}
This will only be visible if you have a license for Workbench Terminal.
:::

- Click **Create Terminal**
- Then **enter**:
 - A name for the terminal
 - A Terminal Link

![](https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/jMU2So13PjJ4diyy35VWr_image.png)

:::hint{type="info"}
The **Terminial Link **is just a label for identifying the terminal.
The actual URL to that Terminal will be created later in Step 2.
:::

## Step 2: Link the Terminal to a device

- Select the Terminal you have created in Step 1 and click **Link.**

![](https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/QVsxSeP88-LL3FFPqh5JR_image.png)

- **A URL link will be generated** above and this will the URL that your Terminal will be registered on.

![](https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/TFkPd02TtL0bEH6TmKbDP_image.png)

- Copy or share this URL link
- **Go to the device **you want to use as the Terminal device
 (For example, a PC or tablet).
- Open an **internet browser application on that device**
- **Enter that copied or shared URL link**
- And you can start using the Terminal on that device!

# Configuring the Workbench Terminal

Moreover, you can decide **which Resources** are visible on each terminal.

- Click the **gear icon** in the upper-right corner of the Terminal screen.

You’ll see a list of machines or resources and can **enable or disable** them for this Terminal.

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/Vm-7dDFGivsA0XG2xgKF4_image.png" size="78" width="1152" height="429" position="flex-start" showCaption="false"}

# Logging in as a Workbench User

Each user who uses the Workbench Terminal has a **unique** **PIN code.**

- You can find this PIN in [User Management](docId\:QXMRgSTyv7fHAvLZv8sHj) under the detail panel of each user.

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/ie4IAHz6sYHsGSdypDNmP_image.png" size="72" width="641" height="397" position="flex-start" showCaption="false"}

# Additional settings for Workbench Terminal

You can explore extra options for the Terminal in **Administration → Settings → Workbench**.

## Auto logout

Set how long the Terminal should wait before automatically logging a user out due to inactivity.

## Automated feedback on primary Work Steps

You can choose if the [primary Work Step](docId\:LxP_OnVwv-NH1JuLEVrN-) should be** automatically reported** when a secondary Work Step is reported.

If this is **enabled**:

- The Terminal will only show **Work Steps **that are assigned to your **secondary Resources.**
- Next to each secondary Resource, you’ll see the** name of the primary Resource **in brackets so you know which **main Resource that Work Step belongs to.**

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/Ldfk9mhtYYr0Ctdyjojly_image.png" size="72" width="692" height="232" position="flex-start" showCaption="false"}

### How It Works

- If the **primary Work Step** is still in “**Planned**” status, it will **start automatically** when you start the secondary Work Step.
- Once all its linked secondary Work Steps are completed, the primary Work Step will be **automatically completed**, too.
- If you **pause or interrupt a secondary Work Step,** planeus will ask if you **also** **want to **pause or interrupt the **primary Work Step**.
- If the primary Work Step is already paused or interrupted and you want to start one of its secondary Work Steps, planeus will ask you to choose **what action to take next.**

# Working with the Start/Stop function of Workbench Terminal

Once you log in to the Terminal, you’ll see:

- A list of all Resources (e.g. machines)
- An option called **“All My Tasks”** will show all Work Steps assigned specifically to you, **the logged-in Workbench user.**

### How to Use It

- Click on a machine to see all its assigned Work Steps.
- Click a Work Step to:
 - Open the **Detail View**
- Here, you can record progress, times, or quantities:

# Logging in with RFID

planeus also supports **RFID login **for even faster access to the terminal.

:::hint{type="warning"}
You will need a USB reader for your RFID chips.
:::

## How to set up RFID login

- Prepare your RFID chip and connect your USB reader to the computer.
- In [User Management](docId\:QXMRgSTyv7fHAvLZv8sHj)**,** enable the option **“Workbench Login via RFID” **for the user.

![](https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/nep7XQJV2JfeoEro19PdX_image.png)

- Once you have enabled it:
 - A prompt will pop up and ask you to **put the RFID chip on the reader**.

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/M1QBpK9lJudQQL_d-GMK2/V6YHtRJziImSzh__VjMWA_image.png" size="64" width="656" height="172" position="flex-start" showCaption="false"}

- **Follow the instructions** and wait till planeus has registered the chip.
- Click **Save** to confirm and leave the panel.
- Now, planeus has saved the user’s RFID code.

# Using RFID to login to Terminal

- On the Terminal code login screen, **scan your RFID chip on the reader.**
- You’ll be logged in automatically—no typing needed.

:::hint{type="success"}
**Workbench Terminal** makes it easy to capture accurate, real-time production data directly** from your devices** on the shop floor—helping execution run extremly fast and smooth.
